Biographical / Historical

George Ade (1866-1944) was an American writer, newspaper columnist, and playwright. His often humorous literary work included many stories in a genre he termed "modern fables." Born in rural Kentland, Indiana, he worked in the Chicago newspaper business for more than a decade before returning to write in the county where he was born. He remained active in literary and political society, and distributed much of the weath he gained from his writing philanthropically.
