Biographical / Historical
The A Better Community Clothing Sale was original created in Williamstown as a fundraising effort to help support the Greylock A Better Chance (ABC) academic program under its original mission. When the program ended at Mount Greylock Regional School in 2015 a small group of volunteers under the leadership of Carolyn Behr decided to continue the major fundraising project and formed A Better Community Clothing Sale, also known as the ABC Clothing Sale or the Giant Tag Sale. It is an unregistered non-profit that continues to raise money with a "mission is to benefit local charitable organizations that serve youth and families at risk and address hunger, poverty, and inequality in our communities, while helping the environment by recycling." The sale takes place annually in the spring at the First Congregational Church and Williams College provides a space for a A Better Community pop-up shop located on Spring Street in Williamstown.
