Scope and Contents

The Laszlo Versenyi papers include published articles from Laszlo's time as the Mark Hopkins Professor of Philosophy at Williams as well as unpublished notes and works read at various events. Also included is a bound, typed journal, "Going Home" by Versenyi recounting his and his wife, Diane's travels through the countries of Hungary, Transylvania, Slovakia and Yugoslavia from 1984 -1987. This expanded journal tells about the countries and the governmental policies through the Versenyi's encounters with various ethnic peoples in the villages and their searching for historic churches that were being abandoned and destroyed. The collection dates from 1958-1988.
