Irving Day, Jr. papers
Scope and Contents
The majority of this collection contains correspondence from Irving Day, Jr. (Williams 1944) to his parents, siblings, and friends regarding campus life at Williams College. Day writes mostly about courses he's taking at Williams and the intensity of the academic program, social life and his involvement with the Delta Theta Pi fraternity, athletic events, his general struggles at Williams, the weather, and family matters. Additional correspondence is from Irving's sister Margaret (who was a student at St. Lawrence University in New York) to their parents and occasionally to Irving. Margaret writes mostly about rushing for a sorority, social life, academic life, and family matters. The legal document relating to Hartley F. Dewey pertains to the estate of Mr. Dewey, who was Irving Day, Jr.'s grandfather. There are a few unlabeled photographs and negatives in the collection. The negatives appear to be of Irving Day Sr. (Williams 1916). There is also an unidentified newspaper issue from 1944.
