Scope and Contents
The Paul Whiteman collection contains a variety of materials that document the life and musical career of Paul Whiteman. Specifically, the collection includes music scores, sheet music, audiovisual materials, business files, personal files, photographs, scrapbooks, artifacts, radio broadcasts and transcripts, books, and other materials that relate to Whiteman and the musicians who participated in his orchestra or worked with him in some capacity.

The Paul Whiteman Collection is open for research. Some series have restrictions, including the radio transcriptions series. Please consult with the Archives staff prior to use.

In consultation with Special Collections staff, reproductions may be made upon request. Please consult with staff regarding questions about publishing materials from Williams Special Collections. Researchers are responsible for handling any copyright issues that may be associated with collections and materials. Some restrictions apply regarding the reproduction of music scores and other materials in the collection. Copying of material (mostly music scores), whether text or audio, must be determined on a case by case basis and is governed by copyright laws and the condition of the documents or recordings requested. Prior to making reproductions of scores and parts from the collection, patrons must attempt to secure release(s) from the copyright holder(s) and send a copy of this paperwork to email@example.com. Please contact the Special Collections staff for additional information regarding copyright permission and use.
